Artist Statement.

Throughout my practice, I frequently find myself bouncing between the desire to make functional works, or to create larger more expressive forms. These two focal points have led me to both create by throwing on the wheel, or the slower process of hand building. In addition to this, the backbone to my work focuses on the use of found materials, and the desire to create from the environment around me.

The study of where land meets sea has become an intrinsic part to my process. These areas of extremes produce the dramatic, raw experiences of which I reflect upon in my work. The coast leaves you feeling small, powerless, while at the mercy of the elements. Yet is a place of calm, peace and tranquility. It asserts a of presence that you cannot easily stray from.
